Second investigation underway regarding official misconduct in Polk County

July 14, 2013; East Grand Forks, MN: East Grand Forks Police Chief Michael Hedlund notified Timothy Charles Holmseth that he is looking into Holmseth’s allegation that his hard-drive was destroyed while in police custody. “We will be looking into this matter. I will contact you again after we have had a chance to review this situation,” Hedlund said, in a July 10 letter to Holmseth.

The destruction of Holmseth’s property is a very small part of an ongoing problem.

On July 9, a judge with the 9th Judicial District forwarded a detailed Affidavit of misconduct allegations to the Minnesota Lawyer Board submitted by Holmseth regarding the East Grand Forks City Attorney, and a State Public Defender. According to Holmseth, Attorney Michael Lacoursiere, state public defenders office, told him EGF City Attorney Ronald Galstad would call Sgt. Detective Chris Olson, EGFPD, and Polk County Deputy Jesse Haugen to lie on the witness stand if he insisted on going to jury trial.

Holmseth has also asked Hedlund why his Department would not identify the source of harassing and threatening phone calls he received.
